Day two at Hoge Veluwe. Today we wandered through the woods somewhat unsuccessfully to try and find some mushrooms to photograph, and ended up on the wildbaanweg again in the late afternoon in readiness for the day's rutting.
Still haven't seen any contact rutting, but the stags are getting friskier.

Magnificent pic! What is the technique for keeping a 600mm straight? Tripod?
@Milliped: Yes, and a pretty heavy duty one at that. Although the lens does have VR (image stabilisation) the sheer weight of the lens makes it pretty much impossible to hand hold for more than a couple of minutes, so I use Gitzo legs together with a Manfrotto fluid video head.
